I'm sitting at the back of the train (our version of the metro, subway, underground) and there's a mini platform between our train car and the next car. There are also doors from the cars onto these platforms, presumably to use in case of emergency. As I was sitting there, two teenagers opened the door of in my car and walked across into the other car. Of a moving train! Ee-gad!
Nevermind how crazy it is that those doors aren't locked, but I also happened to notice a sign on the outside of the door (for people who might be doing what the teens were doing) that said, "No standing penalties apply." What kind of idiot wrote this sign? Most people would read that and think that standing on the platform does not invoke penalties, when in fact, they mean "No standing. Penalties apply." (I asked a transit dude because I was so intrigued. Of course, he could have lied to me.)
On a sunnier note, I got my first birthday present in the mail today! My birthday is a month away. Hooray for Lindsey!!
