Vernissage & the Jew Crew

I went to a vernissage for a very good friend of (re: ex-girlfriend) of my friend Mike. Heidi's pieces were about combining anatomy, her body & chronic illness in her art. Most pieces were hung like paintings on the wall but were sculpture-ish and she uses a lot of mediums, like wax, wood and concrete. Gripping. And vernissages are just plain fun. People look nice and they give out free wine and yummy food and everyone is happy, and you get to look at cool art. I always feel especially cool in Montreal, where they're in nondescript galleries, that you wouldn't know were galleries from the outside, often in lofts, and they usually have good DJs playing as well. Check her out at: http://www.heidibarkun.com.

And then I went to my games night with the Jew Crew...I have this group of friends that I get together with once a week and we play board games. They are often games I've never heard of (no Cranium or Scrabble here) but always very fun. Last night we played Ticket to Ride. My partner Adrienne and I lost badly but it was still fun.
