This morning I got a new licence. This will be the 3rd province I’ve had a licence in. Bit of a screw around – of course Quebec makes it difficult – but after weeks of waiting, plus a 1.5 hour process at the licence bureau, I have a QC licence.
The best part was walking from the bus to the place and chatting with an older eastern European lady who was going for her first driver’s test. She was very nervous and spoke only a bit of English and French. “I so scared! So scared!” When I was leaving, her test was over and she was waiting in a line. She grabbed my hand (I hadn’t noticed her) and said “I pass my examen! I pass my examen!”. She was fanning herself with her test results because she was flushed from excitement. As she was there alone, I think she was excited just to tell someone. Made my day. Congrats little lady!!

I heart oldies. I think I was meant to work with them. The other day I saw a little old man I used to serve at the Swiss Restaurant in Fairfield in Van. He was so happy that I remembered him - he said he didn't even remember what he ate for dinner the day before.
Thanks for the driver's licence story.
