Fred & I have been using his double bed since we moved in together, which is about 15 years old and it's tired. Plus, a "double" is really only made for two women or two children or two old eastern europeans (think Italian grandparents). We'd been wanting to buy a new mattress and box spring for a while but they're so f'ing expensive that we'd been putting it off. But his family told us about this place in the east end of Montreal that sells cheap custom-made *amazing* mattresses.
So this morning before work, we go to this warehouse address at 7am. It's raining, and we ring the bell and this old but bubbly French-speaking guy lets us in. He's about the same size as me. Fred looked like a giant. A younger (40-ish) man works there too (the son?). We get inside & it's a big warehouse filled with mattress supplies like foam and coils and mattress coverings. They showed us all around and how to make a mattress. I must say, it didn't seem very complicated! They have a funny little showroom so we tested them all out and decided to get their second best, guaranteed for 25 years, custom to our specs for just over $500, including box spring & tax. Here's the best part, it will be delivered tomorrow at noon. COD. They were so excited too. The old man was so happy to have us there and show us stuff. And said if there's anything we're not satisfied with (regarding the bed), just to call them. So great!
So as of tomorrow, we'll be sleeping soundly, free of back-aches and coil impressions.
