Yep, I ate a pig's face. too bad it's the name of a fruit on Fraser Island, not an actual animal. Imagine little me gorging into a real pig's face. On a stick. ha!
Anyway, 4WD-ing on Fraser Island was very very fun. Highly recommend it. I was with a really cool group of people, 90% from the UK. We stayed in the most posh hostel ever. Brand new HEATED cabins with hot hot hot clean clean clean showers and free food. So, we drove around the island, the sand dunes (or "droves" as our guide called them), the 75-mile beach. I looked at the crystal clear lakes and dipped my toes in...not too warm so I stayed out. Some people streaked in and then out again. We had a great guide, who was very funny...played practical jokes on us and we did it back to him...put vegemite under his steering wheel in the morning and shit like that.
So, now I'm in "sunny" Cairns and it's raining on an off but at least it's hot. Do the reef thing tomorrow. Went for a jog this morning ...running along with my ipod and turned the corner and oh, who's there? Oh, just a jeep load of army dudes in camo. They either haven't seen a woman in a long time or were surprised that I was jogging so early in the morning ...because they smiled and applauded me...yep, applause. ha! I had no where to run (one way street)...so I just had to keep going right by them. Niiicccce. I felt like an idiot. Good way to start the day.
